It's Sunny

As I look out of the window, I see lush, green trees, pretty flowers, a blue sky with dots of white clouds. I see the sun: big and bright, and it's warm. ( Too bad for those of you in Chicago. It's mid- winter there). Anyhow, I get stuck out side having to pick beans in " Sr. Judy' s garden". I say this because she hardly does the real work but she pays someone else to do it. (I think it's funny). This stinks like a garbage can full of poop and it hasn't been taken out in a decade. (In S.2, we have to take an agriculture class. (Now I almost see why. But it still stinks). What am I going to be doing agric. for in Chicago anyway, huh?
These days, I think these cats on the University's property need mental health counseling. They stay up half the night staring at each other yowling like some dog just tore their legs off. It's retardation madness. (If there is a such thing.) Actually one of the holy sisters goes and throws rocks at them. Hope that works out for her! I'm bored out of my mind here during this long/short winter vacation. But I'll live!

Caning the Buffalo Killers

Wow. What a year. Did you know that this is absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime chance? And I can see why.

Do you know what caning is. No, yes? Well, I'll tell you anyway. If a teacher is upset, (mostly for no reason), he/she will tell, (not ask) a student to go and get them a stick (from a tree). If you get a thin, long stick, be prepared for it to sting your bottom. The teacher will tell you to "Get in position" then "Whack"! This goes on for at least three more times (unless a teacher is really annoyed). I hate this. First of all, this teaches the child nothing (except for the fact that the teacher likes caning). Two, the child is very humiliated, (which tends to be the teacher's point).

Another thing (since I still have some time), is that people here should improve their English. There's this thing called "Buffalo Making" (Mbogo = buffalo). This is when a person speaks using improper grammar in a spoken sentence. For example. Amon, (a boy in my S1 Class), deserves a gold medal for the "Buffalo Killer of the Year" award. This is why: "You have lied me." (leaving out "to"). " Your eyes is paining you." "Tomorrow, if you stole a pen..." These are the most common: mixing tenses, incomplete sentences, etc. It' s ridiculous!!

Somewhat Bored

Um. Hi. I don't really have much to say but. I've learned more Luganda. My family seems somewhat okay. One of my good friends,(Henry), left because the s.4's got done with their testing. Patricia, (one of my other good friends), and I were grieving. I have to start studying soon for end- -of-term testing. (Yay.) That's all for me.

"Ki?" ( Sounds like chi.) This means "What?"

Well, because I'm being forced to write in my blog, for today, I'll just tell you what I've learned. Though I can't spell the words very well, Ya ku ku ba means "I will beat you!" Ggwe means "you." Omuwala means a girl. Lwa ki means Why. I've apparently become an expert in these and some other words, too. I'll just give you these, though.

I've also learned you can't even go halfway across the world without finding any High-School-Drama, type mess. And that's just plain ridiculous. But I try my best to stay out of it.

I forgot. My favorite phrase in Luganda is Ogamba ki. This means "What are you saying?'' So now if someone said something in Luganda that I didn't understand I would ask that question.

Right now Sr. Judy and her Thinking-Ahead-Schemes, said that I should start writing in my blog once a week.

Well, I Have to go eat some Chocolate cake now. Bye!!!!!

Um. Hi.

Yeah, I'm beginning to regret the fact that I practically told everyone that I had no intention of coming here, knowing I had no choice. I am making tons of, shall we say for now, my Luganda speaking acquaintances. I do still miss some of my friends (ahem), and family. My school day is very long. It's basically all day (7:15 AM to 5:40 PM). I walk to school with Carol. She also lives in the University. I made another friend named Stewart. They're both very nice. Stewart has a friend in Indiana, my 1st through 3d grade former life. So I emailed him for Stewart.

Right now it is 9:50 PM and I have to wake up at 5:00 AM or so to meet Carol at 6:30 AM. I took some really nice pictures on my camera. Well I think they're good enough to go in National Geographic Magazine.

I have to tell my friend Jordan Griffin, she was right about someone asking me to marry them. Weirdo. Well, that's all for me.

Bry's Description

Yep, I'm going to Uganda for 7th grade. I'm with Sr. Judy. I don't know if she told you yet or not but we're leaving in August. As you should know, every grown-up has told me: "Oh you're gonna love it", "Oh that's so wonderful!", "We'll PRAY for you." But all I do when they turn around is roll my eyes. No. I don't want to go. Why? Because. End of story.

I'm 12 years old with a history so messed up I can't even spell it out. And leaving my family, even for a year, made them pretty mad and won't help much either. Well, that's me, Bry. My name sounds like this: (Bre-Shell)
